Step 1: Preparation

1. Prepare your equipment : Make sure you have everything you need at hand.
2. Wash your hands : Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. If possible, wear gloves to reduce the risk of infection.
3. Calm your cat : Before you begin, make sure your cat is calm and comfortable. Speak softly to him and, if necessary, ask for help holding him.

Step 2: Positioning the clamp

1. Locate the tick : Find the tick on your cat's body by parting the hairs.
2. Disinfect the bite area : Use a pet antiseptic to clean the area around the tick to minimize the risk of infection.
3. Grasp the tweezers : Hold the tick tweezers firmly between your thumb and forefinger.
4. Position the tweezers : Place the tip of the tweezers as close to the skin as possible, just below the tick, without pressing on it.

Step 3: Removing the tick

1. Grasp the tick : Gently but firmly squeeze the tweezers around the tick's head.
2. Remove the tick : Pull slowly and firmly upward, without twisting or jerking. Make sure the entire tick is removed, including the mouthparts.

Step 4: After extraction

1. Check the tick : Make sure the tick is whole. If part of the tick remains in the skin, remove it with tweezers or consult a veterinarian.
2. Disinfect again : Clean the bite area with pet antiseptic to prevent infection.
3. Dispose of the tick : Place the tick in a small container with alcohol to kill it and save it for future identification, or dispose of it in a sealed plastic bag before throwing it in the trash.
